Welcome to the Stroud and District Athletic Club website.

We are an Athletics club based in Stroud, Gloucestershire that provides coaching and training for a wide range of athletic activities from beginners running, junior athletics, Cross Country all the way through to Elite running activities.

Whatever your interest or ability we can help.

We meet on Tuesdays and Thursday and details of where we meet can be found in the box below.

Half Marathon seminar Wed 18 July

With Stroud Half Marathon just 14 weeks away, Bill Chandler is offering a training tips seminar this Wed 18th July 18:30-19:00 in the Jack Russell room at Archway School. This is aimed primarily at first time or relative newcomers to the sport who are looking to improve their performance over the half marathon distance. Karen Saunders Will also be on hand to demonstrate some yoga stretches which will help all runners cope with the demands of running higher mileages.

Club Sports Day 8th July - field events results

A big part of our annual Sports Day is the opportunity for everyone to try some field events - long jump and throwing mini howlers, javelin, shot and discus. This is mainly for fun but an element of competition always creeps in! Thanks to Steve Carr for organising the events and to all who helped supervise. If you want any more information about the Club's throwing activities please contact Steve.

Annual Club Sports Day 8th July - the Race Results!

We had an excellent day in the sunshine on Sunday. A big thank you to everyone who helped to plan and organise the day and deliver a very enjoyable event. There were some terrific performances to enjoy and we all had fun!

1. The day started with a new event - the Ruscombe Rampage off-road 5k:

1st - Ian Cutler (course record) - 22:12, 2nd - Michael Stevenson - 22:19, 3rd - Ben Lowe - 22:49, 4th - Adam Tavner - 23:29, 5th - Gill Tavner (first lady) - 25:58 , 6th - Mark Calverley - 26:29, 7th - Rob Case - 27:00

Annie Testar and Ruby Brook at English Schools Championships

This is the largest annual athletic event in the world and the 4th largest of all athletic event behind the Olympic Games, World championships, and the Commonwealth games. Each of the 45 English Counties sent teams of boys and girls in 3 year age groups, 8/9, 10/1112/13. Counties are split into large, medium, and small. Gloucestershire is a small county and can only take a maximum of 25 athletic across the gender age groups, which covers the 97 events.
