Stroud and District Athletic Club

What we do

We are a multi-disciplinary athletic club based in Stroud.

We provide running groups for all abilities from beginner to elite level.

We have facitlies available for field as well as track athletics during the summer months.

We also have a Tri and Duathlon section and compete in both the Gloucestershire AAA and Gwent League Cross Country series.

Please use the menus to explore what activities we offer or get in touch via the contact form if you would like more information.

History of the Club

1979, in the beginning ..... Jackie Taylor, Mollie Mills, Colin Oberlin-Harris, guided by assistance from Dursley AC, Stroud & District AC was born. A competition took place to decide on Club colours, which was won by Andy Frapwell - who chose colours from the Stroud Coat of Arms.

Enormous effort was put into raising funds, including tables outside the Subscription Rooms selling secondhand books and bric-a-brac. Our aim was always to have a base of our own. Many attempts have been made to accomplish this, including Stratford Park, Stratford Court and more recently the proposed Ecopark in Stonehouse.

Income in 1981 - £1,302, over half of which came from fundraising.

With thanks to Mollie Mills
